Consumer Debit and ATM Card Information

Here are several important facts to keep in mind to ensure you enjoy uninterrupted Debit or ATM Card access during the transition to First Midwest Bank:

  • Your current NorStates Bank Debit Card will continue to function with no change to your PIN until 6/10/19 or until your card’s expiration date, whichever comes first. If a PIN (Debit) transaction is declined using your NorStates Bank Debit Card during the transition, select Signature (Credit).
  • Additionally, you will receive a new First Midwest Bank Debit or ATM Card, along with a separate PIN Mailer in late November, to ensure uninterrupted access during the transition. Your First Midwest Bank Debit or ATM Card should be activated immediately, and you may begin using it on 12/10/18.
  • Once you have successfully completed a valid transaction after 12/10/18, we strongly encourage you to use your new First Midwest Bank Debit or ATM Card and destroy your NorStates Bank Debit Card to ensure uninterrupted card access.
  • After you activate and begin using your new First Midwest Bank Debit or ATM Card, your NorStates Bank Debit Card will be closed within 45 days of no activity to protect your account and avoid any confusion. If you wish for your NorStates Bank Debit Card to be closed sooner, please contact First Midwest Bank Customer Care at 800.322.3623. In any case, your NorStates Bank Debit Card will remain active until the earlier of the expiration of your NorStates Bank Debit Card, 45 days of inactivity on your NorStates Bank Debit Card after the activation of your First Midwest Bank Debit Card, or 6/10/19.
  • If you have any bills being paid automatically with your NorStates Bank Debit Card, please notify the biller or merchant of your new First Midwest Bank Debit Card number and expiration date. This must be completed after you activate your First Midwest Bank Debit Card, but before your NorStates Bank Debit Card is closed to avoid any loss in service.
  • All card transactions beginning 12/6/18, through and including 12/10/18, will not be reflected in your available balance. Transactions during this time will begin to post to your account the evening of 12/10/18 but may take several days to reflect an accurate available balance.
  • As of 12/5/18, NorStates Bank Debit Card holders will no longer have free access to MoneyPass® ATMs. However, you will have free access to over 175 First Midwest Bank ATMs - plus over 55,000 surcharge-free nationwide in the Allpoint® network.
  • CardValet® will no longer be available for NorStates Bank Debit Card holders after 6:00pm CST on 12/5/18. First Midwest Bank does offer transactional alerts that can be set up through First Midwest Bank’s Online Banking. Please contact First Midwest Bank Customer Care at 800.322.3623 if you plan on traveling during the transition.
